Timothy Patrick Briggs of Greenwood Village Colorado, formerly of Grand Marais, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2021, in Grand Marais. He was 68 years old.
Tim was born in Grand Marais to Francis and Eileen Briggs on March 17, 1953. He was raised in Grand Marais and attended Cook County High, graduating in 1971. Tim loved to work with his hands and build things for family and friends. He worked as a carpenter and commercial fisherman and spent many years working with the U.S. Antarctic Program until retiring in 2020. Tim enjoyed sailing and golf and loved to be in the outdoors, no matter the season. He volunteered with theater groups, building sets and acting. Tim loved telling stories and jokes, he loved to make people laugh. His many friends and family will miss his stories and his Irish wit.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother Eileen (Pat) Tams, father Francis Briggs and step-father Albert (Tuffy) Tams.
Tim is survived by his siblings Michael Williams, Christine Volz, Constance Briggs, Hugh Briggs, Annette Tams and Eileen Desmarais, many nieces and nephews, close friend Kathy Porter and her children Christine Porter and Brad Porter.
The family asks Tim’s friends to gather in your local pub, raise a glass in his memory, and share some good stories.
