Thethird North Coast Fjords Timex 3 Event Day Fundraiser on Saturday, August 8 was a great success for the Sawtooth Mountain Riders Saddle Club.
While slightly cloudy and a bit overcast, the weather was just right for the horses and competitors; it wasn’t too hot or too cold.
While overall entries for this year were down a bit from previous years, the event still managed to raise over $500 for the local saddle club. Horses and riders from as far away as Duluth and Finland rode in this year’s show.
The purpose of the show is to support the saddle club by raising money for insurance and other saddle club expenditures, along with having a great time with fellow horsemen and women.
The winners of this year’s event are Kevin Bolf from Duluth with the first place ribbon and the Timex watch. Mary Beth Wilkes of Grand Marais was a very close second place. Joel Lewis of Hovland claimed third place. Jennifer Fenwick of Grand Marais won fourth place, and John Redshaw took fifth and sixth place—with 2 horses.
North Coast Fjords expressed appreciation to the volunteers who helped make this event possible: Val Littfin, Vicki Geretschlaeger, Dale and Anna Klobuchar, Tess Bailey, Justin Barfuss, Heather Fox, and Rich Kujawa.
