To say I am overjoyed that Minnesota has made the choice not to ban marriage equality would be an understatement. As a recently married straight person, I hope that we are now one step closer to making it possible for all people, regardless of sexual orientation, to share in the responsibility, joy, and commitment that marriage means.
Although this is historic moment, it is only the light at the end of the tunnel. Now is the time to convince those strangled by fear that marriage is defined solely by love and commitment, not by gender. Now is the time to support our GLBT friends and family and let them know we care about their rights as much as our own. Now is the time to start building a bridge to marriage equality for all the people of this progressive state.
