Tim Styles has appeared on stage at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts before—as a member of the Better ThanNothin’ Band
bluegrass group and alone in North Shore Music Association Arrowhead Idol
competitions. Styles is excited about returning to the ACA at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17 with the musicians he has been playing with over the summer.
Styles and friends have been regularly performing at a club in Silver Lake, MN called the Chick-In-Coop and have established an eclectic show with an entertaining mix of country, bluegrass, folk, R&B, rock, pop, blues, funk and alternative music.
“We’re never sure what we’ll be playing,” said songwriter Styles. “We play some of my original stuff and covers of everything from Merle Haggard to Jimi Hendrix.”
Cook County High School 2008 graduate Styles has also been honing his musical skills in Nashville. He just returned from the Music City where he has been making the rounds with other artists, playing Open Mike nights. Styles was happy to report that he had been invited to be the showcase performer at TheCommodore when he returns. “They ask that you play all original music for the showcase, so that will really be fun,” he said.
But first Styles wants to have fun with his hometown fans. “I’m really excited about the show at the ACA. It’s a celebration of my first full year of doing my music. I’m looking forward to showcasing some of the new stuff I’m doing.”
For anyone who hasn’t heard Styles, there are song samples linked to his website at www.TimStyles.com. Or tune in to WTIP radio on Friday, October 16 during TheRoadhouse
from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. for an interview!
But better yet come out for the October 17 concert at the ACA. Expect some rockin’ piano. Some jazz guitar. An acoustic set; a little bit of blues—and a lot of fun!
