Finding a new job in today’s market is often a stressful and long-term process. According to the Federal Reserve’s latest report, the overall unemployment rate rose to 9.5 percent of the labor force in June, the highest since 1982. The longterm unemployment rate — the proportion of the labor force that has been out of work for at least 15 weeks — climbed to 5.1%.
To address the need, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is now offering free, online educational job transition resources for those anticipating a job loss, currently unemployed, and newly hired. The resources, which include educational modules, financial checklists, and links to spiritual and values-based resources, are located at: www.thrivent. com/jobchange.
The job transition resources are organized into three main categories: educational, financial, and emotional and spiritual.
Thrivent Financial worked with MRA (www. mranet.org), a not-for-profit employers’ association, to provide the educational section of the online job transition resources. The Waukesha, Wisconsin-based organization has more than 20 years of outplacement experience in career coaching and working with displaced workers.
