Jacob Schroeder was named to the All- Conference Polar League first team while Joe Borud and Owen Anderson each received Honorable Mention All-Conference for their fine play on the football field this year.
Schroeder, a senior, was a bruising fullback who led the team in rushing while also leading the team in tackling from his linebacker spot on defense. Anderson, a sophomore, was one of the leading receivers in the conference and a tough defender.
No one was asked to do more than senior Joe Borud. Borud played wide receiver, running back and quarterback; three skilled positions he handled very well when he was asked to cover for an injured player. Like Anderson and Schroeder, Borud also was a two-way player, and made many fine plays on defense.
At the football team banquet, Dylan Works was named “Red Dog” player of the year and Jack Viren was named freshman player of the year.
The top award went to senior Thomas Anderson, who suffered an injury to his shoulder and missed the season as a player, but remained with his teammates and encouraged them all season long. For his service and inspiration to his teammates Anderson received Head Football Coach Mitch Dorr’s “Man Built for Others” award.
“This award goes to one exceptional young man that best represents what it is like to be a Viking football player,” said Coach Dorr.
