Vikings’ baseball coach Arleigh Jorgenson was excited to share the news that three of his players had been voted to the All-Conference team.

Tristen Bockovich, Andrew Miller, and Joe Deschampe were picked for their stellar play on the field this season.

The Vikings are currently 7-1 in conference play and ranked second behind Esko, who sports a 5-0 conference record and an overall won-loss mark of 15-2.

Polar League baseball coaches used their vote to select the three Vikings to the 2018 All-Conference baseball team.

In making the announcement, Viking head coach Arleigh Jorgenson said, “As a coach, I believe we have a whole team of all-stars, but I am especially proud of these boys for the intensity that they practice with and play with day in and day out. Their relentless efforts to hone their skills have resulted in these honors.

“Tristen has led our team at shortstop and on the mound. In six games, Tristen has struck out 34 batters and has an ERA of .967 resulting in three wins and two losses. As a hitter, Tristen is batting .476 with four doubles and one home run.

Andrew has struck out 45 batters in six games and has an ERA of 2.592 for three wins and one loss. As a hitter, he is batting .429 with three doubles, a triple and a home run.

“Joe’s selection was as much for his defense and leadership as for his offense, although offensively he leads the Vikings with 21 RBIs and is currently carrying a batting average of .341 with two doubles.”

Bockovich, Miller, and Deschampe will play in the Polar League All-Star Game on June 18 at 1 p.m. at Wade Stadium in Duluth.

In the meantime, joined by a cast of strong teammates, the three will lead the Vikings into what is hoped a deep playoff run.
