Three girls from the Vikings’ track team qualified for the 7-A Section track meet held at Cloquet on June 10, and although no one qualified for state, the three performed well in their events.

Malin Anderson, a senior, placed 11th in the 1600-meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 5:50.59 (5 minutes: 50.59 seconds). Anna Hay, a junior, was right behind in 12th place, closing with a time of 5:51.09.

Morgan Binsfield of Proctor won the 1600 meters with a time of 5:23.96.

Olya Wright, a ninth grader, placed 12th in the 3200-meter run. Olya ran 14:13.56 for the distance. Lizzy Harnell of Proctor won the race with a time of 12:13.53.

The top two finishers at the section meet automatically qualify for the Minnesota State High School League Track and Field meet. If a runner, jumper, or thrower meets the state standard, they can finish behind the top two and still move on to state.

This year the state meet will be held June 17-19, 2021, at St. Michael- Albertville High School near St. Cloud.
