As any fan of history knows, Vikings were, above all else, hardworking farmers who cultivated crops and raised livestock. They planned, paid attention to detail, and worked very hard on individual skills and teamwork to survive and thrive, a great model for sports teams to use.
On February 18, three of the Cook County Vikings’ Football Team members attended the 2023 Augsburg Football Launch Camp at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. The camp was designed for quarterbacks and receivers to work on their individual skills in their positions and then launch into the rest of the offseason program and continue to improve on those skills.
Attending were sophomore quarterback Hunter Rex, sophomore wide receiver Jake Mixdorf, and 8th-grade receiver MaCoy Fairbanks.
The camp was held in the dome on the campus of Augsburg. It was nice for the boys to be back on turf in the middle of this long winter and work on those skills they can use in the fall. Like Viking farmers of old, they will put their skills to use on a wide variety of fields, reaping what they sow. Go Vikings!
