A three-car collision near the Clearview General Store in Lutsen resulted in one person being taken to North Shore Hospital on Tuesday, July 21.
The accident occurred at 9:14 a.m. when Donald R. Magill, 68, of Belvidere, Illinois, attempted to make a right hand turn in his 2010 Chevrolet SUV. Magill was pulling a trailer. Magill’s vehicle was hit by a 2015 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Mark H. Boon, of Maple Lake, Minnesota. The Silverado was then rear-ended by a 2003 Jeep Liberty driving by Naomi Huberty, 19, of Sartell, Minnesota.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Cook County Sheriff Deputies, the Lutsen Fire Department and First Responders and Cook County Ambulance responded to the accident.
Magill and his passenger in the SUV suffered no apparent injuries. The two passengers in the Jeep Liberty also had no apparent injuries. The four passengers in the Chevy Silverado suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One person in the pickup was transported to Cook County North Shore Hospital.
The SUV suffered minor damage. The Silverado pickup sustained moderate damage and the Jeep was totaled. The pickup and the Jeep were both towed to Cook County Towing.
The accident is being investigated by the Minnesota State Patrol.
