Just a sophomore, Molly Thomas has already made her mark as a very fast 400-meter dash runner for Cook County High School. In ninth grade the smooth striding Thomas nearly qualified for the state meet, and in the process almost broke the school record.
For her efforts Thomas was selected to compete in the “Down Under Sports Tournament” in Australia that will be held in July 2015.
But Thomas needs a little help to get there.
Toward that end her aunt, Leah Thomas and several individuals in the county are sponsoring a fundraiser that will be held April 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Grand Marais Art Colony.
“Everyone is invited to attend an evening of live music with Cook County’s Most Wanted,” said Thomas, adding that there will also be sweet treats for sale and a silent auction. Molly’s aunt, Carah Thomas is one of the talented members of Cook County’s Most Wanted.
Molly will represent the Central Conference track and field team in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Mark April 18 on your calendar and bring your dancing shoes. It should be a great time for all. Cost is $5 for students and $10 for adults with all proceeds going to fund Molly’s trip.
