The Cook County Ridge Riders hosted the annual Trout Derby on Gunflint Lake on Sunday, March 8. Winning the fishing contest were (L-R) Jordan Ekroot, Scott “Poot” Houglum, Jade Woltmann, Tasha Johnson, Sherrie Donek. They all won fabulous prizes and Ekroot won the $500 grand prize with his 8 pound, 11 ounce trout.
Ice fishing season is winding down, but the competition is fierce in the Trail Center Lodge fishing contest on the Gunflint Trail. The board is full at the popular mid-Trail spot. Leading at press time were:

The Trail Center contest runs through the end of March. Get out and fish while the ice is still there !
Kids had a great time trying to break the piñata— and catching all the candy that tumbled out onto the snow.
