The hypocrisy of the protesters

Tim Scannell is a friend, but not a close friend of mine. I am not condoning or condemning the relationship Mr. Scannell had with this girl (or young woman as accordingly she was 17 at the time).

I feel it is time I make a statement, unsolicited by Mr. Scannell, that is probably going to affect many of my longtime friendships here in this town and possibly my safety, as I have already received anonymous hate mail but I hope that the public and media will take notice.

I have a video interview with one of the courthouse protesters admitting that part of the driving force behind the call for Tim Scannell to leave office is in fact because of the way and the intensity that Tim prosecuted a sex offender case.

If you want the whole story, look for it. No one will ever know what it was and is like to be in Tim Scannell’s shoes and in his brain after having several bullets pumped into him!

If you want to try to polish the tarnish that has been put upon our town, stop this vigilante mentality and let the system take its course.

Many of those out there calling for his resignation are doing it because of animosity towards the work Scannell did convicting others of various crimes that run the gamut from DUI on up to sex crimes.

I am sick of every one of you out there making a mockery of our town and our system and turning it into a carnival-like ride of shame. Now we have people protesting with signs of hate and the fury is mounting! There are people on TV station blogs that are wishing for Tim’s death.

There are many, many, others in this town that do not hold the same opinion and have some empathy and hold some forgiveness for all in this sad situation. I feel as if I have been living in a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel here for several years and I have had it!
