There was an era in the evolution of humankind, which we call the Dark Ages. It happened about a thousand years ago. It was called ‘dark’ because the light of the human mind was darkened by truth edicts from authorities, whether religious or political. Truth was proclaimed according to caprice and self-serving of the high and mighty.
Even self-evident lies were preached as true, and, whenever an ordinary human began to think for himself, or herself, about the make-up of the world and our human ‘we the people’ forming a society, he and she were condemned to exile or death. Under penalty of eternal damnation, we were told to believe the Earth was a flat pancake floating on the waters of eternity and not some ball flying around in a milky galactic cloud.
Fortunately, the Age of Enlightenment evolved, and we humans realized that to ask questions was the hallmark of being human. Truth was no longer subject to dogmas from above or the whims of those in authority.
Today we are returning to the Dark Ages of a thousand years ago. The truths ‘we the people’ once held as self-evident are being subjected to religious and political narcissism. Those among us who ask questions and seek clarifications are ridiculed and considered unpatriotic. Many lives are ruined as if condemned as of old.
