The Bible validates its authorship

In answer to Lou Jenson’s April 10 letter Men, not God make the rules.

“Jesus gave some sound advice”—but, according to our atheist friends, He provided no “sound evidence” as to His deity; and “Atheists look for evidence.”

Consider the Pharisees. They never questioned the validity of Jesus’ miracles. Even his enemies didn’t question the validity of Jesus miracles. They just wanted him to stop performing them.

Except for those whose lives were transformed. Jesus could not perform these miracles unless he came from God. John 9:33

I believe an almighty God is responsible for all the rules/laws of the Bible’s Old Testament. TheBible itself tells us that it is God who is the author of His book—66 books, written by 40 God-inspired authors, over a period of approximately 1,500 years.

Bible manuscripts have survived despite weather, persecution and time.

Most ancient writings have vanished. Consider Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars. Only ten copies written about 1,000 years after the event are in existence. In comparison, there are over 24,000 New Testament manuscripts, the earliest one dating to within 24 years after Christ.

The Bible also validates its divine authorship through fulfilled prophecies. An astonishing 668 prophecies have been fulfilled and none have ever been proven false (three are unconfirmed). No other holy book comes close to the Bible in the amount of evidence supporting its divine authorship.

As you explore the Bible, you will discover God’s unchanging nature. God is Spirit – infinite and eternal. God is sovereign. God is omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (allknowing) and omnipresent (all places at all times). God is perfectly holy and perfectly just. God is wisdom, power, glory, righteousness, mercy, faithfulness, goodness, beauty, and patience. God is love. God is truth.
The nonspiritual man does not welcome into

his heart these revelations of the Spirit of God,

for they are meaningless nonsense to him; and

he is incapable of knowing them, and becoming

better acquainted with them because they

are spiritually discerned and appreciated. 1

Corinthians 2:14

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God,

who gives generously to all without finding

fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

No matter how much I prove and prod,

I cannot quite believe in God;

But oh, I hope to God that He

Unswervingly believes in me.

E.Y. Harburg Lyricist, Over the Rainbow

Be merciful to those who doubt. Jude 1:22
