The Art of Intentional Living is guest lecture series topic

Cook County Higher Education will feature Marcia Hyatt, noted leadership coach and facilitator, at the July Higher Education Guest Lecture Series event on Tuesday, July 5 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the North Shore Campus in Grand Marais.

Hyatt’s presentation The Art of Intentional Living will explore what it means to live intentionally—why we should strive to live intentionally, and why it is so hard.

Through her own experiences, the coaching of others and interviews, she identifies the key ingredients to “intentionally author” our days. There will be opportunity for questions and discussion during the lecture.

Over the past 20 years, Hyatt has created and facilitated highly rated, innovative leadership development programs for a number of Fortune 100 companies and organizations. She received the Organizational Development “Practitioner of the Year” award in Minnesota in 1995. As co-founder of Waterline Consulting, she was awarded the national “2006 Top Champion Award” by the Institute of Cultural Affairs for her work in facilitative leadership. She has coauthored numerous articles, chapters, and books on leadership and resiliency in turbulent times, and she hosts a WTIP weekly radio show, The Best of Ourselves.

Prior to 1991, Marcia held leadership development positions in computer and energy businesses. She also held several positions at the University of Minnesota including assistant professor. She has been a senior associate of Power and Systems for over 20 years, training trainers of the Organization Workshop for 15 years. Along with being a leadership coach and facilitator, Marcia coowns and manages the “Last Chance Sculpture Studio and Gallery” and “A Room of One’s Own: A Personal

Retreat Center” in Lutsen.

The Guest Lecture series is free, although donations are welcome. The series is sponsored by the Grand Marais State Bank and the Lake Superior Trading Post. Refreshments are donated by Birchbark Books and Gifts, Beth’s Fudge and Gifts, and Johnson’s Foods. The lectures are held at Cook County Higher Education’s North Shore campus, located at 300 West 3rd Street in Grand Marais. For more information call 387-3411.
