The question was, “Why is District 1 officially not represented by a commissioner on the county board from mid August to March 1, more than six months?”
The answer to the question is: state and federal government regulations. My understanding is those government rules were put in place to protect the voting rights of people serving our county who are overseas. Makes sense.
There are no provisions for officially appointing someone for a short term. Should that change, what do you think?
Thank you, Braidy Powers, for getting back to me about this so promptly.
