Cook County News Herald

Thanks to our educators!

As a retired teacher and principal, I have had the opportunity to work for Grand Portage, but serve students in the classrooms of ISD 166. Although I have worked in Cook County Schools for years, over the last two weeks, I have observed the incredible teamwork between bus drivers, food service, custodians, paraprofessionals, academic tutors, secretaries, teachers, district office personnel, and administrators during this unique and unprecedented time!

Individuals have worked together to plan and implement meal delivery for students, develop distance learning materials for those who can work electronically, make available Chromebooks for those without a device, provide traditional paperpencil materials for those students without access to Wi-Fi or the internet, and arrange for physical delivery of materials and equipment, as well. All this new and different work was done with a tremendous amount of love, care, and commitment to students and their families.

Thanks to all those who are a part of this team, a team that will go down in history as a positive group of individuals who provide hope, compassion, care, and education to our young people as they grow, develop, and adapt to the future.

This is a team of people committed to the continued emotional, social, and intellectual development of the young people of Cook County. Please take the opportunity to thank those that are part of this distinguished team!
