A happy group of families, friends and neighbors gathered together on Sunday, August 28 to celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of Tofte Park. The township also honored the memory of John Nelson, who gave so much of himself and his time to the town, including a lot of work around the park. The park is now home to the John Nelson Playground. A sign will be installed to acknowledge this in the near future.
There had been a bit of mist and sprinkles earlier in the afternoon but when it was time to set up, Mother Nature cooperated and we enjoyed sunshine and a warm breeze, right there next to Lake Superior.
Double D’s Catering “knocked it out of the park” with their delicious picnic fare. Holiday provided pop and water to keep everyone hydrated. Pete Kavanaugh set up in the pavilion and played great music for dancing and our listening pleasure. The kids played on the new playground that was installed the week before, just in time for the event.
It was a beautiful afternoon and a wonderful gathering. A perfect community get-together in a space that was made for that purpose. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
