I was walking my dog early Easter morning when she slipped from her harness, ran out onto Highway 61 and was hit by a vehicle. The driver had no chance to stop to avoid the collision. This happened in a split second. The driver pulled over and apologized but as I told him, he couldn’t have done anything to prevent the accident. He would have taken my dog and me to the veterinarian, but he had his dog in his vehicle and that wouldn’t work. Another driver pulled over and asked to assist and a lady across the highway stopped and called the veterinarian for me, getting him out of his church and to the clinic. My brother came and took me and Mini, my dog, to the Cedar Grove Veterinary Clinic where Dr. Nadder Samari was waiting in his church clothes. After a careful examination and an explanation of all of the injuries Mini had suffered, I made the awful choice to have her put to sleep. Thank you for everyone’s kindness, for everyone who stopped or offered to help. Special thanks goes to my brother Steve for his assistance and to Dr. Nadder Samari for his kindness and professionalism in this most difficult situation.
