Sending out a big thank you to all the Lions of Cook County and special thanks to Bobbie Collins as the vendor coordinator, for a great Fisherman’s Picnic once again.
From my TakeAction MN booth shared with the Arrowhead Indivisible, I witnessed only a fun loving time with our visitors and all the locals. It was truly wonderful to renew acquaintances with residents lost in the weekly routines and meet and greet new friends. The constant rain on Saturday appeared to do little to discourage curious onlookers, children and pets.
I met so many young people from far and near showing genuine interest in our political and economic systems, asking questions, sharing their perspectives and listening sometimes in amazement to what their friends had to say. As an aging member of our community I was proud and heartened to witness this interaction of our community’s future.
This Picnic is a wonderful gift each year of hard work and community love. I can’t say I’m ready right now to do it all over again, but I look forward to next year’s Fisherman’s Picnic.
