Terry W. “Lash” Marwick, 65, of Eveleth, husband of Carol Backlund, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, Saturday, May 28, 2016 in his home.
He was born on November 12, 1950 in Virginia. Lash was a 1969 graduate of Roosevelt High School, a 1973 graduate of UMD, receiving a degree in sociology and a 1980 graduate of the Eveleth Vo-Tech, receiving a degree in instrumentation.
Lash was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal System for 30 years, retiring in 2012.
Lash enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, his pontoon boat on Ely Lake, his annual deer hunting trip with his brothers to the deer shack and spending time in Grand Marais. He was an extremely avid Minnesota Vikings fan (he almost bled purple).
Lash married Karen Erceg on August 9, 1986 in Eveleth. They were married until her death on December 16, 2009. He married Carol Backlund on September 26, 2015 at their Grand Marais home.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Backlund; sons, Brad (Kelly) Erceg and Jamie (Jennifer) Erceg; siblings, Karen Burton, Tom (Margie) Marwick, R.J. (Nan) Marwick, Jeffrey (Peggy) Marwick, Rob (Kim) Marwick and Cindy (Mike) Salley; step-son, Jeff (Andrea) Backlund; daughter-in-law, Charisse Erceg; sister-in-law, Nancy Richter; and grandchildren, Ashley Erceg, Dawkin Erceg, Fayja Erceg, Talon Erceg, Brooke Backlund and Mia Backlund.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Karen; son, Lance Erceg, brother, Lindsey Marwick; nephew, Erik Marwick and brother-in-law, Russell Burton.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service Friday, June 10, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Virginia. Pastor Susan Swanson will officiate.
