The Cook County Tennis Association (CCTA), in partnership with the Cook County Community YMCA, held their second annual 3-day tennis camp last week at the Grand Marais courts. The camp involves 15 hours of high quality instruction on all aspects of the game of tennis which are taught through a series of fun on-court drills.

The camp was well attended by an enthusiastic and dedicated group of 19 youth and adults. To encourage participation, the entry fees for the juniors were substantially reduced thanks to a subsidy from the CCTA.

Instruction was again provided by Travel Tennis Camps, a Minnesota organization which specializes in putting on tennis camps in towns throughout Minnesota during the summer. The instructors were led by Scott Hansen, the head women’s tennis coach at the College of St. Benedict and his staff of three current or former college players.

Due to the positive response from the participants this year, the CCTA plans to offer the camp again in 2016.
