Teen’s Questions—Doctor’s Answers

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic is excited to announce the release of the video presentation, “Teen’s Questions—Doctor’s Answers.” Teens often have concerns about their health but don’t always feel comfortable asking adults for information. To make things easier, health care staff compiled some common questions that they have been asked by teens, and then Dr. Kurt Farchmin and Dr. Catherine Hansen answered those questions in a video format.

They answer

. If I’m under 18, can I be treated without my parent’s knowledge? – How do I know if I’m pregnant?

. Who can see the information in my health records?

. How can I get “Plan B”?

. Can the nurse who rooms me see my health information?

. If I tell you that I smoke pot or drink alcohol, will you tell my parents or call law enforcement?

. When I pee in a cup, what are you testing it for?

Youth are encouraged to watch the video and write in the comment box any further questions that they may have. They could be answered in an upcoming “Teen’s Questions” video. The video is available on Sawtooth Mountain Clinic’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/ watch?v=j8wk_ mnpQpQ, and a newsletter with condensed versions of the doctor’s responses is on the clinic’s website: www.sawtoothmountianclinic.org.

Sponsored by Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Public Health and Human Services, this video is part of the ongoing parenting resource series, “Hot Potatoes: Parenting Help When Things Get Hot.”
