Trust is earned, not given. County powerbrokers and placeholders have lost the public trust. Taxpayers are burned out on years of expenditures, expansions, mismanaged contracts, construction oversights and shortsighted “needs” analysis.
An explosion of local government disproportionate to our slow growth population leads to distrust. Wasting limited tax dollars; acting on wants, not needs; baited with one price and project then switched to more, more, more; avoiding true needs analysis; and solutions seeking problems i.e., messing with unorganized territory town hall use—all leads to distrust.
People feel the exponential nature of change. As leadership condescends to local expressions of change, distrust multiplies as well. Leadership inside the courthouse bubble and in service to their bureaucracy, untethered to the general public, not a good look.
Taxpayers, please scrutinize these multi, multimillion dollar actions approaching a board votes. NO to bait and switch bonding for expansions without a complete “needs” analysis. Get real. Our very small county must live within our means.
