Tax Volunteers move to Community Center




Monday, March 1 was the last day the tax volunteers were at the Senior Center in Grand Marais.

The volume of people seeking help with their taxes has grown beyond what the Senior Center can accommodate. So beginning Monday, March 8, the tax volunteers will move to the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais where from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Monday, and every Monday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Community Center’s Log Cabin, they will help with your taxes. However, the last tax day at the Community Center will be Thursday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tax volunteers will continue to be at the Birch Grove Community Center every Wednesday in Tofte from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and at the Grand Portage Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 is the last tax day for Birch Grove, and Thursday, April 15 is the last tax day at Grand Portage

Please bring the following when you come to have your tax returns prepared: Social Security cards and birth dates for all your household dependents; W2 forms showing employer and income; interest (1099-INT), dividends (1099-DIV or equivalent), and retirement (1099-R); any other documents sent to you for tax returns (W2-G, 1099-Misc. 1098 etc.); a copy of last year’s federal and state tax returns; and Rent Refund Certificate (see your apartment manager or landlord).
