This is a great project for kids of any age. It can be used as a Halloween decoration and then kept for those occasions when you may need a tool to help your child learn about tattling. If your child has developed a habit of tattling too much, you can redirect him or her to the tattle monster.
This tissue box, decorated with a face and wide, toothy mouth is the perfect outlet for excess tattling. With no harm done, the child can tell the monster all about it! The monster will listen intently, but hold his tongue. The monster can also be used like a bowl to hold candy or maybe some spooky Halloween trinkets like bats, insects and rats as a decoration.
Materials
. An empty tissue box
. Construction paper in a
variety of colors
. Scissors
. Markers or crayons
. Glue or tape
. Empty egg carton
(optional)
Wrap the box like a present with paper and glue or tape it in place. Cut away the construction paper at the opening of the box. Cut teeth and tape or glue to the mouth of the monster.
Use a two-part section of the egg carton as eyes or make eyes from construction paper. Glue or tape the eyes to the top of the box.
Decorate the box to complete the face however you wish. Your box can be scary or more friendly depending on the type of teeth and eye and eyebrow choices.
