Cook County High School Senior Tate Crawford was named to the 2021 Polar League All-Conference baseball team. The selection was made by area coaches who vote on players they see throughout the season.
The All-Star game was played Monday, June 21, and Tate was two for three at the plate.
Tate, who graduated this year, played third base and pitched for the Vikings.
When asked for a comment, Viking Head baseball Coach Arleigh Jorgeson replied, “Tate was a strong team leader and played with confidence at third base. He made several outstanding plays throughout the year and steadily improved throughout the season.”
During league play, Tate mainly batted second in the line-up, averaging .333 for the year. His on-base percentage was .424, and he ended with three doubles and one triple, driving in 13 RBIs and scoring 12 runs.
As a pitcher, Tate’s earned run average (ERA) was 3.875, with nine strikeouts, three base on balls in five games pitched in relief.
Playing the “hotbox,” Tate had an outstanding .857 fielding percentage at third base.
