There has been much effort and time spent during these early days of the 88th Minnesota Legislature by a number of powerful DFL legislators who have authored an assortment of laws to remove/confiscate/ban firearms from honest, law-abiding, patriotic Minnesotans.
Some of these draft laws have even suggested creating a new class of criminal felons out of citizens who now possess legal firearms.
However, it is apallingly obvious that there has been no effort by these same Democrats to find effective ways to remove firearms from our state’s criminals.
With all due respect, I would submit that since “Disarming Minnesota” has become the clarion call for a modest, yet influencial, element of the DFL in both houses of our legislature, one would hope that these Democrats would start to focus on the criminal element, rather than on the millions of Minnesotans who are honest, hardworking and productive taxpayers and voters.
It is somewhat disconcerting that, in their efforts to “Disarm Honest Minnesota,” this group of Democrats has almost become the defacto “shadow advocates” for the outlaw underbelly of our society, i.e., those who would not be affected in any way whatsoever by DFLdrafted laws to strip firearms from millions of law-abiding Minnesotans.
Indeed, this is a curious thought, but, at the same time, it is a most sad and alarming commentary on the fiber of some Democrats in our legislature.
Without question, Minnesota deserves far better from this guild of Democrats.
