Take & Create Art Kits at Grand Marais Library

Grand Marais Public Library will be distributing 30 free art activity kits starting February 14. Designed by COMPAS Teaching Artist Teresa Cox, the Paper Design Collage Take & Create Art Kit explores color relationships and design using geometric shapes. Participants experiment with using papers to create an original collage, and experience drawing, color relationships, cutting, sharing and discussion. Materials and instructions will be provided with the kits, which were intended to appeal to all ages. Children may require some assistance. To receive a kit, community members should stop by the library between February 14 and February 28, while supplies last.

As a visual artist, Teresa Cox has been influenced by Midwestern landscapes. She is curious about the interconnectedness between the physical world and the internal one. Her work is alive with color, movement, and pattern. Says Library Director Amanda St. John, “Search for Teresa Cox’s work online and you’ll see how beautifully this is going to translate to the kits.”

This program, sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
