Tina Liebling for governor!
There I’ve done it, there have been all sorts of articles and news stories about DFL candidates announcing for governor, so the chances of any one getting the headline or lead are slim, so there I’ve done it, not only the featured lead in my post, but the only candidate I will mention at all.
I have been involved in Minnesota politics since the mid sixties; I have been through lots of different candidates and administrations, been a delegate to numerous conventions and even have been elected five times to SWCD offices in two different counties. During that time, I have supported some of the best governors our state has had: Anderson, Perpich, Dayton, and now Tina Liebling. Why Tina among those greats?
Tina even to me is a bit of a surprise. I took note of her first campaign in Rochester 2005 (partly because I had studied photography under her father decades before), a conservative stronghold at the time, but amazingly she pulled off a strong win and quickly established her capabilities and credentials. Among her primary interests are health care and education, both highs on my list, and she worked her way effectively into being a legislative leader on those topics; she has been out-front in her support for single payer and tuition free access to higher education, two key areas not just in Minnesota, but in national and world leadership.
Tina also was among the first to declare for Bernie Sanders, establishing her position among those of us tired of traditional politics, who think we can do better. As governor Tina can and will keep Minnesota’s ranking at the top. So please give Tina a serious look, consider her candidacy if you will be attending caucuses in February.
