Sweet Papa Dave to play for Rendezvous Days

This year the Sweet Papa Dave Band will be the featured band at the Grand Portage Lodge during Rendezvous Days on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 9 p.m.

Sweet Papa Dave (David Hart) was born in St. Paul and raised in the deep back woods of Grand Portage. His family had no running water. They heated and cooked with wood. As a child he grew up listening to Huddy Ledbetter, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Jim Kweskin’s Jug Band on the old family phonograph.to

As a singer, songwriter, guitar player and front man for his band, Sweet Papa Dave has been performing his music nationally for over 28 years. His original music ranges in genre from blues to folk, country and rock. Sweet Papa Dave has performed and shared the stage with many notable musicians including Jimmy Dawkins, Chico Chism, Alberta Adams, Vince Welnik, RJ Mischo, Big Walter Smith and Paul Diethelm. He has performed in multiple venues including nightclubs, theaters, concerts and festivals.

His current band mates are Randy Mickelberg, Back Beat Harris and Keith Manske.

Sweet Papa Dave has released three CDs that have all received worldwide recognition and distribution. His music can be found on several compilation CDs and has been used in both national and world charity functions and promotional videos.
