Viking senior guard Pete Sutton put up some fantastic scoring totals this season, but he ended his season with one of the most points ever scored in one game by a Viking.
The shifty, high flying guard finished with 45 points against the very tough 21-7 North Woods Grizzlie team, but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings fell 93-67 in the Section 7A playoff game played at North Woods on Wednesday, March 4.
Jordan Porter, a senior forward, was the only other Viking in double figures. Jordan finished with 14 points. Tate Crawford ended his night with four points, Jacob Dorr had two points, and Derek Smith had two points in the game.
North Woods won the Polar League Big School Conference with a 13-1 record in conference play. Cook County finished 12th out of 20 teams in the Polar League Big School Conference with a 3-5 mark and an overall record of 6-13 on the year.
“It was a tough way to end the season,” said head Coach Colin Everson. “North Woods is a very good team, and we were unable to compete and consistently play at the level we needed to, to come out with a win. Our seniors will be missed next year, and we wish them the best of luck in the rest of their CCHS career and post-graduation adventures.”
With the loss, the Vikings are out of the playoffs. Playing their last game in a Viking uniform were seniors Pete Sutton, Jordan Porter, Adam Dorr, Austin Lincoln, Keegan Morrison, and Devon Premo.
