Grand Marais writer Susan May Warren received the honor of being named a finalist in the Carol Awards given out by the professional organization American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). The Carol Awards honor the highest achievements for published authors of Christian fiction in the previous calendar year.

Warren has been nominated for this award 11 times in previous years and has won it four times. More than 40 of her books have been published.

“With over 360 entries in this year’s contest, making the finalists list is a noteworthy accomplishment,” said a press release from ACFW. Warren’s contemporary romance, My Foolish Heart, is one of three finalists in the Long Contemporary category. The 2012 Carol Award winners in each category will be announced at ACFW’s Awards Gala on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the annual conference in Dallas, Texas.

“The Carol Award winners are a shining example of the best and brightest the industry has to offer,” said Steve Laube, president/literary agent, The Steve Laube Agency.

“The prestige of the Carol Award is unsurpassed in the Christian community,” said Mary Sue Seymour, literary agent, The Seymour Agency.

“The Carol Award is the gold standard in Christian fiction. As an editor, I take note of each winner and finalist because I know they have passed muster with some of the best judges in the industry. These are the authors whose words enlighten and entertain; the ones I want to read and acquire. They are our future,” said Ramona Richards, editor, Abingdon Press.

“Garnering a Carol Award is a crowning achievement for any author,” said Janet Kobobel Grant, founder and literary agent, Books & Such.

“It’s clear that the Carol Award, presented each year by ACFW, has become one of the most prestigious awards given to Christian novelists. It has earned its place in the world of publishing,” said Chip MacGregor, president, MacGregor Literary Inc.

From airport newsstands to Newsweek, Christian fiction continues to grow in popularity, resonating with readers looking for both faith and fiction. ACFW has more than 2,500 members and 28 local chapters in 20 states, as well as a beyond-the-borders e-chapter.
