Susan Joyce Shaffer, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022. Born in West Virginia in 1946, fate would bring Susan to Minnesota in the 1960’s where she would meet a charming young Air Force recruit named William. Susan and William were married in Grand Marais in 1965, and after a brief honeymoon would find themselves settled near Madison, Wisconsin. It was here they welcomed their first two children, Eric and Rebecca.
The mid 1970’s would find Susan and William in Maywood, Illinois, where they welcomed their third child, daughter Michelle. It was here that Susan would become involved with a local dance studio where she would become an accomplished seamstress and mentor to hundreds of aspiring young dancers who all referred to her as Miss Sue, a nickname that would stick with her forever. Eventually, Susan and William would retire and return to northern Minnesota where she would spend her days laughing with family and enjoying visits from her children and grandchildren.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of nearly six decades William, her son Eric (Shari), her daughters Rebecca (David) and Michelle (Justin), and her eight adoring grandchildren, Vaughn, Alyssa, Holly, Gwen, Noah, Jake, Juliet and Marie.
