Join the Superior Hiking Trail Association for two great hikes in the Arrowhead this month. They both begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine.
The first event is Sept. 22 and is an 8.3- mile hike from Bally Creek Road to Grand Marais. The walk includes sights in a nice forest, a 193-foot boardwalk on the Sundling Creek beaver dam, and views of Lake Superior from Sawtooth Bluff. Participants are to meet at the Pincushion Mountain trailhead parking lot.
A week later, Sept. 29, hikers should meet at the Caribou Trail parking lot for a 6.4- mile climb and descent from Lutsen to the Caribou Trail. Good fall colors should add to the outdoor experience.
Note that the meeting place is the end point of the hike, and there is a group car shuttle to the starting point. For more information call (218) 834-2700.
