The Grand Marais Playhouse is very pleased to announce its 2016 Grand Marais Summer Theater Festival lineup!
Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesserling is a classic in American theatre. Arsenic and Old Lace is a frenzied, hilarious, madcap black comedy. Spinster sisters Martha and Abby are known around Brooklyn as kind and charitable ladies. They also have many gentleman callers—funny until we realize they all end up buried in the basement by a brother who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt burying the victims of yellow fever! Their unsuspecting nephew discovers their secret and tries to deal with them, his new fiancee, his other brother, the police and the chaos that falls on the house.
The cast members in this spoof are listed right. As you can see we are still looking for three characters. These are relatively small but very important roles. Please give us a shout and join the hilarity. This play is as much fun to be in as to see. Contact the Playhouse as soon as possible if you have questions or interest.
The Addams Family is a new musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa drawn from the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and based upon The Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams in his single-panel gag cartoons. Numerous film and television adaptations of Addams’ cartoons exist.
In this first-ever stage production, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family— a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before—keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.
Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
