The Grand Marais Playhouse is very excited to announce the 2014 Summer Theater Festival! Mark your calendar for these two repertory theater productions.
Nunsense: The Mega Musical. Book, Music and Lyrics by Dan Goggin
The bigger and better version of the original Off- Broadway hit is packed with laughter, song and dance. The sisters of Mount Saint Helen of Hoboken, New Jersey, are holding a fundraiser to help with the burial costs of four sisters who were accidentally poisoned by the convent cook.
Audience members don’t have to be Catholic to enjoy Nunsense humor. The cast helps them understand terminology and customs. Songs include So you want to be A Nun, Tackle That Temptation with a Time-Step, We’ve Got To Clean Out The Freezer, and Holier Than Thou!
Cast includes Reverend Mother Mary Regina (Rena Rogers), Sister Mary Hubert (Karina Roth), Sister Robert Anne (Karen Blackburn), Sister Amnesia (Rose Ar rowsmi th- DeCoux) , Sister Mary Leo (Erin Altemus), Sister Julia, Child of God (Gerry Grant), Sister Mary Brendan (Michaela Peterson), Sister Mary Wilhelm (Jan Healy), Brother Luke Don Grant, Father Virgil (Daniel Ditmanson).
Performances for the Nunsense: The Mega Musical are July 17, 19, 25, 27, 31, and Aug. 2, 8, 10.
Nana’s Naughty Knickers by Katherine DiSalvino
Bridget and her grandmother are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget saw as a unique opportunity to stay with her favorite Nana in New York for the summer quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. It seems her sweet Grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to every senior citizen in the five borough area!
Will Bridget be able to handle all the excitement? Will her Nana get arrested— or worse!—evicted?

Performances for Nana’s Naughty Knickers are July 18,20, 24, 26, and Aug. 1, 3, 7, 9.
Tickets for Summer Festival Shows are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Sunday matinees are donation day (donate what you can!) and the first Friday of each production is Food Shelf Friday. Advance tickets are available on-line at tix.com.
Don’t forget Church Basement Ladies returns as dinner theater for three performances ONLY! May 22, 23 and 24 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Social Room.
