Another successful North Shore Hospital Auxiliary Pie Social was held on Saturday, July 13 at the Johnson Heritage Post. Proceeds from this elegant event benefit the Cook County North Shore Hospital and Care Center.
Auxiliary President Evelyn McDonald explained that the auxiliary was formed in 1957, one year before the hospital was built. The care center was funded in 1962. McDonald said, “The goal of the auxiliary has always been to provide support to the hospital and care center and to provide the projects and services that enhance the patient, resident and visitor experience, the ‘extra things.’”
A few of the auxiliary’s projects financed through the auxiliary’s trust fund are the entrance canopy, furniture and window coverings, atrium benches, refurbishing the doctor’s lounge, daily newspapers, flower and patio improvements, machines and patient care equipment and a critter fence for the care center garden.
Auxiliary President McDonald said, “We are grateful for the many generous donations of time and money by this community that have made these improvements to the hospital and care center possible. As planning and assessments are considered to meet the future needs of the patients’ and residents’ experiences, we welcome the community’s continued support.”
