On Sept. 29, Studio Formå – the newest member of Minnesota’s North Shore art community – will Askofficiallyyour launch with a special celebration at Last Chance Studio & Gallery in Lutsen. Founded by Last Chance co-owners, celebrated artist Tom Christiansen and his wife and life coach Marcia Hyatt, Studio Formå offers both commissioned art and life coaching services to help individuals create art with intention and purpose.
Through a collaborative process, Studio Formå works with clients to create customized, meaningful pieces of art to remember loved ones, to celebrate a life event, or to reflect personal values or aspirations. A client with a specific idea in mind can work directly with Christiansen or begin the process by working with Hyatt to discover personally meaningful intentions through coaching. From concept and creation to finishing touches and installation, clients are involved in the process, which many find to be inspiring, healing and powerful.
“Art can capture an emotion or intention better than words, and Studio Formå was created as a way to help people remember what matters most in life,” said Christiansen. “Nothing in my career has given me more pleasure and sense of purpose than working with clients on these projects for their loved ones and themselves, and we’re excited to honor this process of bringing intention, purpose and meaning to life through art.”
Christiansen said he has been approached many times over the past few years to create commemorative or legacy pieces of art ranging from lifesize representational sculptures to urns or anniversary benches. He found a depth of meaning in helping create art that reflects a feeling or intention, while Hyatt has similar sentiments from her work in leadership development and more recently as a life coach. Her experience coaching people in finding their voice and vocation complements Christiansen’s services, and Studio Formå is the creation of their combined efforts.
The Sept. 29 event, from 5-7 p.m., is free and open to the public. Guests also may stop by throughout the weekend of Sept. 30 through Oct. 2 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to see some of the work first-hand.
Last Chance Studio & Gallery is located in Lutsen at 17 Railroad Drive, just off Highway 61, next to Arrowhead Electric and across the highway from Lockport Spur Station.
