Strong season stats for Viking boys

After18 games the Cook County High School boys’ basketball team sports a record of 10-8 and the Vikings are 6-5 in the Polar League conference. And if not for four close losses of 3 points or less, the boys would be looking at one of the best seasons in CCHS history.

For the year the team is averaging 47.8 points per game. The top four point scorers are Ryan Martinson with a 12.4 average, Dylan Quaife and David Bergstrom with 11.9 points per game and Colin Everson with 8 points per game.

From the field Martinson is shooting 49 pecent, while Quaife and Bergstrom are averaging 43 pecent and 38.4 pecent.

Bergstrom and Boomer average 3.4 assists, while Colin Everson is right behind them with 2.9 assists per game.

The top two three-point shooters are Bergstrom with 27.8 pecent and Everson with 26.6 pecent of his tries locating the net.

Quaife leads the team from the charity stripe with 67.9 pecent of his free throws finding the basket.

Bergstrom is the leading rebounder on the team with 7.8 boards per game. Quaife is right behind with 7.2 rebounds and Martinson, a close third, with 6.8 boards per game.

Bergstrom is the run away leader in steals with 4.7 per game. Boomer, Everson and Quaife all average between 1 and 2 steals per game.

The CCHS boys’ basketball team played Barnum on Friday, Feb. 25 in Barnum and wraps up the regular season on March 1 at home against Two Harbors. Go Vikes!
