What’s the difference between agates and thomsonite? Do you look for interesting rocks on every beach? Do you wonder about all those rock faces you see as you drive by on Highway 61?
If so then you might want to attend the Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center on May 7 at 10 a.m. for a presentation called Stories in Stone, which is put on by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Please be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Margie Menzies will present the program, which will last about two hours and is free to attend.
Sugarloaf Cove is one of the best places on the North Shore to examine geology up close and personal. Join us to explore how Lake Superior got here, ponder the origins of a beach with some of the greatest diversity of rock types on the North Shore, and puzzle out lava flow features from top to bottom. There’s no better place for rock adventures.
