Santa’s Workshop will once again bring a team of Girl Scout elves to help kids shop for Christmas gifts. On December 7, at the First Congregational Church, festivities start with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. Pancakes, sausage, eggs and fruit will be available with coffee, juice and milk – $8 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Lunch will be available after 11 a.m. – homemade chicken rice soup and a sandwich for $5. Coffee and a Christmas treat will be available for $1.50. Shopping will start at 9 a.m. – kids and their parents fill out a “shopping list” then a Scout Elf will assist the shopper to choose and wrap the presents, before rejoining parents. No gift in the child area will cost more than $2.
There is also a shopping area for adults with small gifts and Scout-made crafts. There will be an area for free childcare—so parents can leave to do some shopping of their own. Free craft making and face painting will also be happening. The day concludes at 2 p.m. Any profits made go to the Northern Pine Service Unit of Girl Scouts. The money is used through the year for local Service Projects like Santa’s Workshop as well as the Alumni Tea, Minnow Camp, and Thinking Day activities.
