The calendar says it is spring, but the weather surely doesn’t! The snow this week has pretty much extinguished spring fever for most of the folks at the Senior Center. We can only hope that our spring weather returns next week.

A trek to Cascade Lodge

In March, we enjoyed a trip to Cascade Lodge for lunch. On the way there we drove the additional few miles and enjoyed the Cascade Beach Road. Many folks on the bus had not been on the road for years and a few folks had never been. We stopped along the way and enjoyed the creeks rushing and especially Spruce Falls roaring. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Best of all, was the companionship and friendship.

Easter Bingo fun

The Senior Center enjoyed a special Easter Bingo event the Thursday prior to Easter. Betty Wilson was the lucky cover-all winner. She won a wonderful whole pie donated by The Pie Place, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We would like to extend a special thank you to The Pie Place for all of its support of the Senior Center.

A visit to Ruby’s Pantry

The Senior Center bus traveled to Ruby’s Pantry in Silver Bay on Saturday, April 26. Ruby’s Pantry is a nonprofit organization that holds food distributions across the northern tier of Minnesota and Wisconsin. People who attend the distributions are asked to donate $15-$20 and they receive a great deal more in food supplies.

We were welcomed kindly and with enthusiasm at the gym at Mary MacDonald Center in Silver Bay and everyone enjoyed “shopping” there.
