Stewart James McIntosh

Stewart James McIntosh Jr. passed away peacefully the morning of April 28, 2022. Everyone who knew him, knew he was a kind, funny, creative man, who had a knack for hardware, and who loved his wife and family.

Stewart Jr was born in 1945 to Stewart Sr and Ruth; he grew up in the Morningside neighborhood of Minneapolis; he graduated from Edina High in 1963. Stewart served in the U.S. Army from 1966-69, including two tours in Vietnam.

In 1971, Stewart married Kathleen Knutson; they bought a house in Saint Anthony Park neighborhood of St. Paul and had two children, Andrew and Carin. Stewart owned and operated Park Hardware Hank on Como Ave in Saint Anthony Park for nearly 30 years. Stewart loved puttering in his yard, fishing, and doing the crossword puzzle; but most of all he loved making Kathy laugh. He is preceded in death by his parents Stew Sr and Ruth, and his sister Betsy Paetznick. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; children Andy (Jamie) McIntosh of Burnsville and Carin (Luke) Gulstrand of Grand Marais; grandchildren Emmett, Asher, Ruby and August; brother Bruce (Kathy) McIntosh; and other sibling-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service is planned for June 9 at 3pm at Saint Anthony Park United Church of Christ in St. Paul, Minnesota. In honor of Stewart, donations can be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research or Saint Anthony Park United Church of Christ.
