Finland, MN, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Cook County North Shore Hospital. He was born August 24, 1959 to Harold “Holly” and Janet (Lind) Nelson in Little Falls, Minnesota and grew up in Grand Marais, graduating from Cook County High School in 1977. In 1978, he graduated from Duluth Vocational Technical Institute. He was employed as an auto body repairman. Steve took classes to become computer certified, and for the past 20 years he was a computer administrator at Bluefin Bay Resort and also at AmericInn in Tofte and Surfside Resort. He enjoyed bowling, curling, golfing, fishing, and was an avid car racing fan, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Steve was a loving, caring, devoted person and will be missed by family, friends, and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet in 1995 and his father, Holly, in 2009. Steve is survived by his daughter, Betsy (Jason) Norman of Cloquet; his sons, Steve Jr. of Duluth and Chris of Cloquet; sisters, Kimberly (Doug) Wilder of Little Elm, Texas and Becky (Dean) Anderson of Cloquet; step-mother, Crystal Nelson of Grand Marais; grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, and Ryan; and a large supportive family. Visitation was Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial will take place at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Grand Marais.
