What do the experts say? A win’s a win?

The Cook County Vikings received a “W” in the win column last week because Carlton cancelled its season at the last minute. With all of the other teams in the area scheduled to play, the Vikings were unable to line-up a replacement game.

This Friday, October 7, the kids travel to East Central to face the Eagles. East Central is 2-3 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.

Next Friday, October 14, the Vikings will host the Ogilvie Lions who are unbeaten at 5-0. Currently Ogilvie is ranked second behind the first-place Vikings.

Despite not having statistics for the Vikings game against Ely (the game film was damaged), Viking players are still high in most categories kept by the conference.

With only three games counted, running backs Pete Warren and Colin Everson rank 5th and 6th in yardage with 261 yards and 248 yards. Quarterback Kale Boomer is 8th in rushing with 219 yards. All of the other players ahead of them have four of five games counted.

Barnum ranks first in rushing with 367.3 yards per game while the Vikings rank second with 290 per game.

Kale Boomer leads all passers with 280 yards for a 93.3 average per game. After five games Jeff Loftus from Mesabi East ranks second with 287 yards, averaging 57.4 yards per contest.

Vikings wide receiver Dylan Quaife is far ahead of all of the other receivers with 206 yards for a 68.7-yard average per game. Garrett Larson from Mesabi East is second with 155 yards and a 31-yard game average. Quaife is also 4th in scoring touchdowns.

On defense Kale Boomer leads the conference with 10.3 tackles per game from his linebacker position. Warren, Quaife, Everson and Bradley VanDoren rank 12, 16, 17 and 20th in tackles.

Bradley VanDoren ranks 3rd in sacks in the conference.
