Start your holiday with “Hawaiian Fantasy” in Schroeder

Schroeder starts the holiday season with wonderful crafts, creations and activities on Saturday, November 19 with “Holidays in Schroeder.”

At 2 p.m. on the 19th, the Schroeder Area Historical Society will be raffling a quilt called “Hawaiian Fantasy.” This year the Cross River Quilters have stepped aside to introduce a quilt created by Ipo Camara of Honolulu, Hawaii. SAHS board member Ross Willson was able to procure this hand quilted creation. Rows of designs of orchids, anthurium, lehua, dolphins, bombax, turtle, torch ginger, hibiscus, pineapple, breadfruit and other natural forms are repeated randomly in this white and blue creation. The $2.00 raffle tickets will be available at the Cross River Heritage Gift Shop.

The quilt raffle is part of a cooperative event at the Schroeder Town Hall with North Country Creations Bazaar. North Country Creations is a group led by Lavonne Anderson that creates homemade items, baked goods and goodies for an annual sale at the Schroeder Town Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Across Highway 61 from the Schroeder Town Hall, the folks from the Schroeder Area Historical Society will have their Holiday Bazaar featuring Mrs. Claus and fabulous krumkaka and lefse demonstrations with Judy Gregg and Linda Lamb. The gift shop will be also be having a sale. The gift shop features work by Sandi Pillsbury, Rose Vastila and Cindy Everson. Local artists Mary Jane Huggins, Joyce Yamamoto, Jerry Raich and David DeGree will be part of the Art Show at Cross River Heritage Center.
