Music will fill the Grand Marais Harbor on Saturday, July 31, as eight acts take the Stars of the North Musical Festival stage in an all-day effort to raise funds for music lessons for area youth.
The Grand Marais Music Collaborative, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization that focuses on the local music scene, education, and performance, is again sponsoring the festival.
There should be something for everyone as bands and solo artists play a wide gamut of music from folk, blues, jazz to rock ‘n’ roll and more.
This annual fundraising concert will feature many cornerstone local musicians and, of course, the Stars of the North students! Music will be live webcast, and there will be fundraising efforts along the way to help cover the costs of our programs which include paying for music lessons for area youth taught by talented local instructors.
Last year’s outdoor festival was canceled because of the Covid pandemic. Event planner Todd Miller says he hopes that next year it will return to its former three-day status.
While the show is free, it is hoped that people will donate, and folks should know that all donations are tax-deductible.
Here is the current lineup of exceptional local talent: 11:00-11:45 Adam Kirsch. 12:00-12:45 Special Guest to be announced. 1:00-1:45 Briand Morrison and Roxanne Peterson. 2:00-3:15 The Wunderdogs. 3:30-4:00 The Students of the Grand Marais Music Collaborative. 4:30-5:30 Community Jam with special guests and instructors. 6:00-7:30 The Evening Stars. 8:00-10:00 Joe Paulick and friends.
