After a year off because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Stars of the North Musical Festival returned to an in-person gathering held Saturday, July 31 in Harbor Park, drawing an appreciative audience throughout the day. Local musicians and musicians with ties to the area played a mixture of electric and acoustic music on stage from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The annual fundraising concert is held by the Grand Marais Music Collective to help cover the costs of GMMC programs which includes paying for music lessons for local kids taught by talented local instructors.

Next year the concert will return to its three-day format.

Free to the public, donations were accepted between performances.

Appearing on stager was Adam Kirsch, Bump Blomberg, Briand Morrison and Roxanne Berglund, The Pete K. Group, the students of the GMMC, Joe Paulick and friends.

A community jam session with special guest instructors was also part of the musical mix.

The GMMC is a 501(c) (3) not for profit organization that exists to serve the local music community specifically by creating opportunities for musicians and students, thereby benefiting education, the local arts community, the economy, and the general well-being of our entire community.
